Previously, a local health director was required to be a licensed physician, but this bill allows district directors to instead hold a master's degree in public health or a related field. If the director is not a physician, they are required to appoint a physician as Chief Medical Officer. If the director is a physician though, the director may also be the Chief Medical Officer.
